Shirts obviously are must haves in any wardrobe. What I like most about the three shirts above is the ease in which they fit and flatter. When recently in the Madewell in Santa Monica I pulled aside the friendly sales associate to have her explain the fit and sizing of their shirts. I walked in figuring I would be a size small or medium especially since I like the looser tomboy look, and at 24 weeks pregnant need the extra room that a medium can provide. However, I was surprised to see that their sizing actually begins at XXS and that I fit quite well (24 week belly & all) into the XS. This was a bit of a pleasant surprise, and confidence booster, proving why I was so excited to be shopping there.

The sales assistant told me that the sizes are intended to fit in a range of ways- so I see a top, dress or sweater I can choose to get it in a size XXS for a more traditional fit or a size XS or S for a looser, baggier more tomboy fit. That being said I chose each of the above tops in a size XS that fits me well through my shoulders and top but allows room for my mid section. I was also happy to see that I still have room to grow in these tops so hopefully they last at least through most of my third trimester. The other thing that I liked was the first two are both full button downs so I have options when styling, wearing them open with a t-shirt or tank underneath and layering them as the seasons change. The elmhurst check shirt is not a full button down but it has slits in the sides that definitely will accommodate a larger mid section.

As always with new gear I am very excited to wear these and figure out what to pair them with to last me through the rest of this pregnancy, and of course happy that I did not spend this money on real maternity clothes. I can easily see these pieces fitting nicely back into my pre maternity outfit rotation.
