The Weekend Report w/ Candace

What a week!? Personally it has been a really funky one for me so I am extra happy the weekend is here and that I get the chance to introduce you all to Candace Molatore. I have seriously been looking forward to this since her list arrived in my inbox on Monday. Candace is a local photographer and a real life social media maven. Seriously though the tern ‘maven’ has never been more apt.

I met Candace earlier this year thru instagram and then serendipitously ran into her during happy hour and on the spot coerced her into joining a wine event that I was co-hosting that night with my friend Summer from West & Union/Pine. Candace gracefully obliged then and continued to shower me with her kindness when she accepted my request to feature her on the blog.

Today we get to read about her perfect Portlandia weekend which includes brunch, drinks, coffee and self care.

THE WEEKEND REPORT C/O CANDACE MOLATORE

I’m a freelancer so sometimes what a weekend looks like for me can vary a lot. I try to dedicate my weekends to as much self-care as possible, whether that means full-on lazy mode at home or just going at my own pace throughout the day. I love starting my mornings at home, eating breakfast and enjoying some Netflix time as the sunlight streams in. It’s my favorite way to start the day and not be tempted to sit on my phone.

  1. If I’m lucky, my weekends also include a nice brunch! I am a firm believer that one should partake in brunch at least once a month to maximum happiness--it’s science. Olympia Provisions has my favorite brunch in the city, but I also have been loving brunch at the Hoxton Hotel, Proud Mary and Yonder!

  2. Being a freelancer means sometimes work happens on the weekends. If I have emails to schedule out, or content to edit I might post up in a coffee shop from time to time to get that work done. Finishing projects up in a communal environment like Never Coffee helps the work feel less solitary. Occasionally during the week I’ll even meet with friends and host a communal workday-- it can feel so much more productive that way!

  3. Portland has no shortage of local makers and I love to support them as much as possible. I love stopping into shops like Tender Loving Empire, Mantle and Maak Lab--they have the best assortment of home and body goods I could ever need!

  4. I rarely do this, but my ultimate weekend would end by winding down somewhere super relaxing. Knot Springs is my favorite place to take a pause and enjoy some much needed me time. I love their soaking pools and the sauna is just amazing for sweating out toxins built up from the week prior. On the days I can’t make it in, I might head home and pop the Knot Springs oil scent into my diffuser, at least then I can close my eyes and pretend I’m there. ;)

Thanks for reading! For more info on what I get up to on the day-to-day, be sure to find me on Instagram! (@hey.candace) I’d love to connect with you more there.
