brothers

Screen Shot 2016-01-30 at 11.32.40 AM Our dog Baron has been with us for five years. He is a shelter dog that we adopted when he was two. He is a really handsome and elegant looking dog but he has your typical shelter dog temperament: skittish, quiet, uncomfortable around strangers but really sweet and dedicated friend to his owners.

He has gotten much better over the five years. Gaining confidence and personality. We were quite curious how the introduction of Mario would affect Baron's personality. Would he love him, or hate him, or just not even give a shit. The first nine months Baron ignored the baby. On a car trip when Mario was about one month they sat in the back seat together. Mario was getting uncomfortable and was crying (as babies in cars often do) I looked back to see how Baron was reacting. He was looking out the window in the opposite direction of the baby completely ignoring him and I swear I could see a thought bubble above his head that read: WTF!?!

Flash forward to last weekend. The sweetest thing happened. It was mid afternoon, I was sitting on our couch in the living room doing some work while Mario was entertaining himself in front of me and our dog, Baron, was hiding out in his corner of the living room on his bed. I glanced up and saw Mario snuggling with Baron and Baron letting it happen without even flinching. PROGRESS people. Major progress. I mean how sweet are these guys just chilling like the bros they are.
