A Pre Quarantine Party

A month ago, International Women’s Day to be exact. My work wives and I organized a cult themed baby shower/ blessing way for one of our own. My sweet friend Julie is due with a baby girl tomorrow and already had a very fancy and beautiful shower that her sister threw her for family and friends but as her work wives we wanted to celebrate her amongst our work family in a silly way.

Erin above, and I co hosted at our house and we transformed the living room into a Midsomar meets The Leftovers themed out room by draping canvases and sheets over nearly everything.

Julie had the idea to have a Tarot card reader join us and we invited Queen Tay Tarot to give 10 minute readings to our guests upstairs in a private room. Along with that we required that all guests wear white and let the wackiness flow from there.

My cousin Brit generously gave her time to photograph the event. I knew it was gonna look like something different and wanted to have it properly documented. If you are in Portland she is an excellent photographer for events and portrait sessions. Erin baked delicious sweets and Trelawny nailed the brief with her Charcuterie boards.

I made a punch with a recipe that Katie Hintz-Zambrano from Mother Mag generously shared with me over DM. It was super easy and the only mistake I made was that edible flowers I ordered online were actually just photos of flowers printed on communion paper. Looked pretty though! Plus turns out punch is more fun to look at than drink.

I had landed back from our trip to Mexico the night before and did not brush my hair, which I now realize that maybe after a day of travel and night of bad sleep maybe I should have at least put it up!

Last but not least this throne crafted by SJ was obviously the star of our show. It now currently resides in my side yard and is available for any of your throne needs, local pick up only obvi.

Hope you can enjoy these pics. It is pretty wild to look back at this from a month ago and realize that this was really the last socializing that any of us did. Glad we got to celebrate and shower this well deserving woman and new mom.
