OM(b)G- oh my baby gear!

Let me be the first to tell you that the baby market has changed tremendously since 2014 when I was last pregnant. Mario will be an even six point five years when this new baby comes and we are 1000% starting over, I found one swaddle that we had from his first few months but that is practically it when it comes to hand me downs or things we will be able to re-use.

I am so out of the game that my cousin who is having her first just 10 weeks after me wrote an email asking for registry advice and I have absolutely none to give!

Mike and I were early millennial parents especially in our demographic: young professionals ie yuppies. And since then so many yuppies/ millenials have become parents and invented so many unique products along the way. Things that are now on nearly every dream registry: snoo, dock a tot, elvie, owlet, artiepoppe, Thule strollers, etc.

With Mario we were quite minimal. No wipe warmers, bottle warmers, baby monitors or any real gadgets. His first night home from the hospital we momentarily put him in a laundry basket between us in bed cause we had zero idea what to do with him nor a bassinet.

The one ‘gadget’ we had was a rock & play rocker from Fisher Price. He slept in that thing next to our bed most nights in the early months. It had the ability to robotically rock which we sometimes used but most often didn’t. It folded and could be hidden away at moments notice and kept him safe and secure.

A couple years ago however these were recalled. I would definitely be getting our new baby one of these if not for that recall so I have been on the hunt for a new and different option. The simpler the better and I think I have landed on the Dock a Tot based on peer reviews, how cozy they look and the fun patterns, hoping to snag the animal print ‘painted spots’ cover.

When it comes to carseats and strollers I am going second hand. Ideally I can find a solid stroller at a resale shop in Portland and my good friend Esme offered me her almost one year old baby’s infant carseat. TY Esme!!!

While we were packing for Mexico Mike found Mo’s old shibori dyed Solly wrap so we stashed that away to use this time around. But this time around I do want a more on the go style that doesn’t require hoops and loops and ties, etc. I am currently split between a Colugo carrier in the bandana print or the Artipoppe in the blue sky motif. Artipoppe is over twice the price but the folks I know who have it SWEAR BY IT. And that it can go back to front and be used with toddlers is a big plus. Both the prints are so fun, will I regret a print? Have I ever regretted a print? You must check out the links and let men now your pov.

Then I guess there is just the little things: chupons, bottles, clothes, diapers, wipes and the rest.

But what else am I forgetting? What is top on your list and what is your opinion on my products I have already spelled out? Would love your help rounding out my list as we count down to this Bebito arriving soon.

What helped you most post-partum? I walked straight into a Christmas Eve party a few hours after leaving the hospital and might slow down a lil this time around and just chill. We shall see!!!
