Five things from February
When I was on maternity leave I was a very busy online shopper. Surprisingly though, not for diapers, wipes and baby things. But instead I found myself buying vases, clothing and other random housewares. Post holiday sales on sites like Anthro & Nordstrom really hit me hard. Some parts retail therapy and some parts boredom. What might be more surprising however, is that I did not become an Amazon shopper or prime member until this past summer. I never fully understood the novelty until I realized they would deliver dog food to our doorstep. Up the 20 or so cement steps and onto our welcome mat. WOW. Imagine what it could have been like for diapers and wipes way back when right!? I have come full circle on Amazon.
After doing a shopping cleanse for the month of January (the two Lou & Grey sweaters I got on super duper discount don’t count) I returned home from Hawaii mid February and binged a little on some online shopping. Nothing major and nothing over $30 but a handful of things that brought me a lil joy & function this past month. Something for your lips & something for eggs and a few things in between. Here we go!
1) SOMETHING FOR EGGS Eggs and pancakes are a big theme at breakfast for us but, plot twist! So is the disappearing act of our spatulas. I have no clue where they have gotten lost. Probably in the yard as Momo’s favorite activity of late is earth worm hunting & a spatula seems like it could very well be his tool of choice. So I invested $8 in a teak turner and think it is lovely, works well and looks chic.
2) SOMETHING FOR YOUR LIBRARY I have officially joined the ever popular Alison Roman movement. After looking at two local cookbook stores they were both sold out of her latest edition so I went the Amazon route. While I have yet to cook one of her recipes I have read a good amount of her pages. It is the most friendly cookbook I have ever read. It is easy reading like this blog (lol) or IG captions from your BFF. I am so curious what will come of the Alison Roman trend. Is she our generation’s Martha Stewart or Julia Child? Will our kids remember her as a culinary icon their parent’s imitated? I dunno. But looking forward to trying my hand at her dishes.
3) SOMETHING FOR FRUIT My dining table has been begging for a fruit bowl. And was adamant that it didn’t want me to just sub in one of our existing oversized ceramic dinner bowls. So while perusing a Strategist article I discovered these super pretty enamel marbleized bowls. A set of three that nests together to fit whatever fruit we might have on hand. They are a great sub for the HAY design ones I have been coveting for a few months now.
4) SOMETHING FOR LIPS Olio #10 I am always on the hunt for a simple and every day lip color. Something I can keep in my bag, give a subtle color and throw on my lips without fear of looking like over lined joker lips. I found just the stuff from my friend Paola’s line Olio e Oso. Balm #10 does the trick and is my version of perfection right now.
5) SOMETHING TECHY I bought a device that is like a transformer for my iPad. A case with a keyboard. It takes your regular schmegular iPad and turns it into practically a computer. For one dollar over $30 it is extremely practical, functional and allows me to write this very blog post on my iPad WOW, how very 2020!
That is all folks. Hope you enjoyed and maybe even favorited a thing or to to bring some function and fun into your little casita too. Please share any of your recent amazon finds too!
